Toft Dairy is currently looking to fill a Food Safety & Quality Manager Position.

THE ROLE and RESPONSIBILITIES

Build and maintain the Food Safety Plan, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and other quality assurance documents
Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local food safety regulations with documentation and recording. Ensure all legal and regulatory documents are filed and monitor compliance with laws and regulations.
Coordinate plant quality and food safety audits (internal and third party)
Work with the plant manager to assign audit responsibilities to various members of the plant team and act as the company representative during third party audits
Lead employee training programs
Develop and execute health and safety plans in the workplace
Support production planning and scheduling
Manage customer complaints
Perform cultural quantitative tests, such as aerobic plate counts and coliform counts for the detection of bacteria
Test samples for food allergen residues
Receive and test raw milk samples for antibiotics (once certified by the ODA)
Gather samples from processing equipment and the plant environment
Inspect the processing areas and equipment for cleanliness
Record and manage accurate and complete laboratory testing result records
Perform lab equipment verification and calibration activities
Observe and enforce all established GMPs (Good Manufacturing Practices)
Control nonconforming products and prepare investigative reports
Adhere to standard procedures and safety guidelines
Manage cleanliness of the laboratory and order supplies

Requirements:

Bachelor's degree (background in food science or dairy manufacturing preferred)
Experience in food manufacturing (not food service) or related field is highly recommended, but not required
Proficiency in MS Word and Excel and ability to learn new software applications easily
Must be able to pass all pre-employment screenings including drug, background and criminal checks
Able to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
Effective verbal and written communication skills
Must be able to stand, walk, kneel, and bend for virtually the entire shift
Must be able to go up and down platform stairs and ladders
Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds
Must be able to work in a wet environment and occasionally go into the freezers
Must be able to effectively work in a team environment
May occasionally be exposed to chemicals
May have exposure to peanuts, tree nuts (coconut, pecans, walnuts, almonds), egg, wheat (gluten), milk, and/or soy
Must be willing to work flexible hours including overtime as required, occasional weekends, and holidays
Able to communicate at any organizational level
HACCP or SQL experience and/or certification desired, but not required
